N へ 行きます

へ marks direction with movement verbs: 行きます/来ます/帰ります.

  • わたしは毎朝学校へ行きます。

    I go … school every morning.

N へ 来ます

来ます 'come' also takes へ for destination.

  • 山田さんは先週日本へ来ました。

    Mr. Yamada came … Japan last week.

～時に 帰ります

に marks specific time. 帰ります 'return/go home' takes へ for destination.

  • わたしは5時に家へ帰ります。

    I return home … 5 o'clock.

どこへ 行きますか

どこへ行きますか = 'Where are you going?' へ asks direction.

  • ミラーさんはどこへ行きますか。

    Where … Mr. Miller going?

  • どこへ行きますか。——デパートへ行きます。

    Where … you going?

N と Vます

と means 'with' a person when used with action verbs.

  • わたしは友達と京都へ行きます。

    I am going to Kyoto … a friend.

だれと

だれと = 'with whom'. Ask who the companion is.

  • あなたはだれと大阪へ行きますか。

    … who are you going to Osaka?

N も 行きます

も 'also' can be used with movement verbs: N も 行きます.

  • サントスさんも東京へ行きます。

    Mr. Santos is also going to Tokyo.

何で / N で

何で = 'by what means'. で marks method of transport. L4 introduces this.

  • わたしはバスで会社へ行きます。

    I go to the company … bus.

～ませんか

～ませんか = invitation 'Won't you...?' 見に行きます = 'go to see'.

  • 一緒に映画を見に行きませんか。

    Won't you go see a movie … me?

N で (transportation)

で marks means of transportation: 自転車で = by bicycle.

  • わたしは自転車で大学へ行きます。

    I go to university … bicycle.

国 へ 帰ります

帰ります 'return' takes へ for destination: 国へ帰ります.

  • ブラウンさんは先月国へ帰りました。

    Mr. Brown returned … his country last month.

何で

何で = 'by what / how' for means of transport.

  • 何で学校へ行きますか。——電車で。

    … do you go to school?

飛行機で

飛行機で = 'by airplane'.

  • わたしは飛行機で北海道へ行きます。

    I am going to Hokkaido … airplane.

来週に

に with relative time: 来週に, 昨日, 明日 etc. can take に.

  • 来週に京都へ行きませんか。

    Won't you go to Kyoto … week?

家族と

と 'with' for companions: 家族と = with family.

  • カリナさんは家族とブラジルへ帰りました。

    Ms. Karina returned to Brazil … her family.

歩いて へ 行きます

歩いて = 'on foot' is adverb. Destination takes へ.

  • わたしは歩いてスーパーへ行きます。

    I go … the supermarket on foot.

タクシーで

タクシーで = 'by taxi'.

  • 佐藤さんはタクシーでホテルへ来ました。

    Mr. Sato came to the hotel … taxi.

～時に 出ます

朝7時に + verb. 家を出ます is L5, but 出ます 'leave' is L4 vocabulary.

  • わたしは朝7時に家を出ます。

    I leave home … 7 in the morning.

一人で へ 帰ります

一人で = 'alone/by oneself'. へ for destination with 帰りました.

  • マリアさんは一人でブラジルへ帰りました。

    Ms. Maria returned … Brazil alone.

午後に ～ませんか

午後に = 'in the afternoon'. ～ませんか invitation.

  • 午後に病院へ行きませんか。

    Won't you go to the hospital … the afternoon?

船で

船で = 'by ship'.

  • わたしは船で沖縄へ行きます。

    I am going to Okinawa … ship.

先月に

先月に = 'last month'. から marks origin point.

  • 田中さんは先月にアメリカから来ました。

    Mr. Tanaka came from America … month.

母と 買い物へ行きます

母と = 'with mother'. 買い物へ行きます = 'go shopping'.

  • わたしは母と買い物へ行きます。

    I am going shopping … my mother.
