～つ counter

～つ counter for general things. 3つ = three things.

  • りんごを3つください。

    Please give me … apples.

～枚 counter

～枚 counter for flat thin objects like stamps, paper, shirts.

  • 切手を5枚ください。

    Please give me … stamps.

～台あります

N が あります 'have N'. ～台 counter for machines/vehicles.

  • わたしは車が1台あります。

    I have … car.

～に～杯

～に～回/杯 'X times/cups per ~'. 1日に3杯 = 3 cups per day.

  • コーヒーを1日に3杯飲みます。

    I drink 3 cups of coffee … day.

～に何回

1週間に何回 'how many times per week'.

  • 1週間に何回テニスをしますか。

    How many times … week do you play tennis?

～くらい

～くらい/ぐらい 'about ~'. 1時間くらい = about 1 hour.

  • 日本語の授業は1時間くらいです。

    The Japanese class is … hour.

～回ぐらい

～ぐらい 'about'. 2回ぐらい = about 2 times. ぐらい after 回.

  • わたしは1か月に映画を2回ぐらい見ます。

    I watch movies 2 times … month.

4つください

4つ = 4 things. Use ～つ for apples, general items.

  • りんごを4つください。

    Please give me … apples.

～かかります + ぐらい

～かかります 'takes ~ time'. 1週間ぐらい = about 1 week.

  • この仕事は1週間ぐらいかかります。

    This work takes … week.

2時間ぐらいかかります

2時間ぐらいかかります 'takes about 2 hours'.

  • 東京から大阪まで新幹線で2時間ぐらいかかります。

    It takes … 2 hours from Tokyo to Osaka by Shinkansen.

～円ぐらい

500円ぐらい 'about 500 yen'. ぐらい for approximate price.

  • ビールはいくらですか。——1杯500円ぐらいです。

    How much is beer? —500 yen … cup.

います for animate existence. 3人 = 3 people.

  • わたしは兄弟が3人います。

    I have 3 siblings ….

N が いります

いります 'need'. N が いります.

  • わたしはお金が少しいります。

    I need a little money.

10人ぐらい来ました

10人ぐらい 'about 10 people'. ぐらい with counter.

  • パーティーに友達が10人ぐらい来ました。

    10 friends came to the party ….

8時間ぐらい

8時間ぐらい 'about 8 hours'. Duration + ぐらい.

  • わたしは1日8時間ぐらい働きます。

    I work 8 hours … day.

1万円ぐらいあります

1万円ぐらい 'about 10,000 yen'.

  • わたしはお金が1万円ぐらいあります。

    I have … 10,000 yen.

3本いります 'need 3'. ～本 counter for long thin objects.

時間がかかります 'takes time'. たくさん 'a lot'. L11 vocab.

～杯 counter for cups/glasses of drinks. 1杯 = one cup.
