Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Every lesson, question and mock test is free, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
Where is my progress saved?
In this browser only: lessons learned, flashcards and test scores. There are no accounts. Clearing your browser data resets them.
Which level should I start with?
Open lesson 1 of the level you plan to sit. If you know most of the words, move up; if nearly all are new, try the level below.
Do the mock tests include listening?
Not yet. The tests cover language knowledge (vocabulary, grammar) and reading, timed like the real exam.
Can I hear how the words sound?
Yes, if your device has a Japanese voice (most phones and computers do). Tap the speaker next to a word.
Who makes this site?
The team behind the Anki JLPT apps, which sponsor it. The lessons come from the apps' own data.
